Happy Women’s Day!
I would like to thank all the important women in my life for their invaluable place in my development. That includes my Great grandmother, Mother, my many grandmas and my girlfriend Trina!
This day is also important in the history of the workers movement across the world, as it was first recognized as a holiday in the Soviet Union and then subsequently celebrated in Socialist countries around the world from Vietnam to Cuba. So in essence this holiday highlights the Communist commitment to equal rights and opportunities for women.
“In Petrograd, here in Moscow, in other towns and industrial centres the women workers acted splendidly during the revolution. Without them we should not have been victorious. Or scarcely so. That is my opinion. How brave they were, how brave they still are! Think of all the suffering and deprivations they bore. And they are carrying on because they want freedom, want communism. Yes, our proletarian women are excellent class fighters. They deserve admiration and love.”
Vladimir Lenin
